St. Labre was one of 300 schools from 36 states across the country to receive a $5,000 grant through the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries. With these funds, the St. Labre middle school and high school library was able to purchase a rich collection of books authored by Native Americans or about Native Americans, with a special emphasis on Northern Cheyenne and Crow peoples and their cultures and histories. These books spanned a variety of age-appropriate topics including Native American poetry, fiction, non-fiction, historical novels, agriculture and food, Native American customs and storytelling and much more.
By increasing the capacity of our library program, we are directly enhancing classroom learning and helping more students attain the skills needed to successfully pursue post-secondary education and careers that ensure they attain self-sufficiency.
The students at St. Labre are grateful for the investment in these new library resources. It is exciting to help our students develop an appreciation and love for reading!
