Recently, The Voices of Hope students took part in a weeklong service immersion trip in Chicago, IL. These young men and women took part in discussions on how to enact social change and the importance of being civically engaged. They met with the Loyola University campus ministry and were provided with some good food for thought on being young spiritual leaders. The Voices of Hope group also volunteered as conversation partners and English as a second language teachers; working with immigrants who are learning English. They were able to share an evening with youth at the Firehouse Community Center for the Arts where the mission is to engage young people with positivity and spirituality through the arts and hip hop. There were many “God moments” throughout the week as they learned of the violence in Chicago and spoke with several ministries that are trying to bring about healing and change.
